Services of worship

Every day we celebrate devotions or church services in the Protestant Berlin Cathedral. You are cordially invited to celebrate with us.

As the central place of worship of the Protestant Church, Berlin Cathedral has the task of reflecting the diversity of Protestant services. The main services on Sundays and public holidays at 10 a.m. are celebrated as a Protestant mass: The festive service always includes communion, the liturgy is sung, the liturgical vestments are white and the congregation sings liturgical pieces in addition to the chorales. The evening services on Sundays and public holidays at 6 pm follow the Reformed tradition: the liturgist wears the black gown, the sermon is the centrepiece and communion is celebrated once a month.

Church services in Berlin Cathedral are always a special experience. The faithful and the curious, Berliners and tourists, young and old flock to the cathedral, sing and pray, listen to words from the Bible and their interpretation in the sermon, listen to the organ playing and receive a blessing. You can get your own impression in our media centre.

In addition to the sermons, Berlin Cathedral is known above all for its church music. Not only does the world-famous Sauer organ resound at every prayer service and church service. Soloists and numerous music ensembles regularly enrich the services in the cathedral. Our own ensembles are the Berlin Cathedral Choir (‘Berliner Domkantorei’), the Berlin State and Cathedral Choir (‘Staats- und Domchor zu Berlin’)The English Choir Berlin and the Berliner Dombläser.
