Overview

As the central place of worship of the Protestant Church, Berlin Cathedral has the task of reflecting the diversity of Protestant church services. This includes both the festive services on Sundays and public holidays as well as the daily midday services.

Services of worship

Protestant services and devotions are held every day in Berlin Cathedral: The main service on Sundays and public holidays as a Protestant mass, the evening service in the Reformed tradition, the hour of cathedral music as a concert devotion and every day at lunchtime a devotion with organ music and an impulse.

Childrens service of worship

Parallel to the main service, the little ones celebrate their own, child-orientated service. There they listen to Bible stories, sing, pray and do crafts.

Hour of Cathedral Music

At the end of the week, the »Hour of Cathedral Music« (»Stunde der Dommusik«) takes place on Saturday. Here, the rich treasure of choral and organ music meets biblical texts in a liturgical setting. Whether you listen to our large Sauer organ as a soloist, one of our choirs or guests - you can expect 45 minutes of church music at the highest level.

Taizé service

The cathedral glows in candlelight. Time for God - time for yourself - time for each other. The first notes of the piano gently resound in the room. The voices and other instruments pick them up and multiply them in praise of God. The Taizé evenings are a moving worship experience. Hundreds of people celebrate them once a month in Berlin Cathedral.

Liturgical vespers

Since 1997, there has been a permanent organisation of Liturgy of the Hours at Berlin Cathedral. On the first Monday of every month, we celebrate liturgical vespers at the altar of St Peter, together with members of the Order of St John and the Order of Malta.
