Welcome Service

As part of the Welcome Service, we give our international visitors and non-German-speaking Berliners the opportunity to join in the church services in the cathedral. On all Sundays and church holidays, we offer a translation for the 10 a.m. services so that they can hear the liturgy and sermon simultaneously in English. Guests listen to the translation using headphones via a transmission system

If you are interested in the Welcome Service on Sundays and public holidays and would like to help out in the group, either as a translator or host, a member of the Welcome Service will accompany and support you during the first services.

• Host: welcome the guests and instruct them on how to use the transmission system, provide information about the cathedral and the congregation
• Translator: simultaneous translation during the services; preparation based on manuscripts provided in advance

• Host: basic knowledge of English
• Translator: very good knowledge of English

• Host: Services according to personal possibilities, 2h each time
• Translator: once or twice within 2 months Service: 2 hours plus personal preparation
• The entire Welcome Service meets twice a year to exchange experiences
