The annual motto for 2022

The annual motto of the Berlin Cathedral for the year 2022 picks up on wounds that arise and have arisen as a result of war and pandemic and accompanies the search for healing.

It is evident in the most diverse contexts of life: nothing will ever be the way it was once thought, planned, hoped for. We are living in a time of change - and that is no longer a cliché.

Originally chosen for the time after two difficult years of pandemic, the annual motto at the Berlin Cathedral "Healing - What is needed?" therefore takes on an additional unexpected dimension. For instead of breathing a sigh of relief from the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, our breath is now caught in the face of the current world situation. In the midst of epochal changes, we have to say goodbye to convictions and certainties, securities and plans. But also of the hope for a good future?
