On the dome photo you can see the already cleaned apostle figures of James the Elder and Paul on the left. The sculptures of Peter and Andrew on the right still need to be freed from the incrustations. In comparison, one can clearly see the differences.

The cleaning of an apostle costs 6.000,- Euro. Feel free to contact us if you would like to support us in cleaning a figure of the Berlin Cathedral. As a thank you, we will honor you with a brass plaque on our donor plaque in the cathedral.

The difference between before and after is particularly impressive when you look at the façade from the Lustgarten. The renovated bell tower and the front towers shine in a light sandstone tone, the rear towers are still black.

Above all, the numerous decorative elements on the façade of Berlin Cathedral have suffered greatly from environmental influences in recent decades. These pictures also give you a clear impression of why the valuable sandstone must be urgently cleaned for more than just monumental conservation reasons.
